Stone Of Improved Perception

Sardonyx, Sardonyx Tumbled Gemstone, Tumbled Sardonyx, Tumbled Gemstone, Gemstone, Crystal, Crystals, Gemstones, Strength, Perception, Protection, Happiness, Friendship, meditation supplies, metaphysical, chakras, clearing, cleansing, healing, Las Vegas, NV, buy, shop, online shopping

Sardonyx is a stone of strength and protection. Sardonyx invokes the search for a meaningful existence and promotes integrity and virtuous conduct.

Bringing lasting happiness and stability to marriage and partnerships, Sardonyx attracts friends and good fortune. It can be gridded around the house and garden to prevent crime. (A stone can be placed at each corner and at doors and windows, bit it is more effective to dowse for exactly the right place.)

Psychologically, Sardonyx supplements willpower and strengthens character. Sardonyx increases stamina, vigor, and self-control. Sardonyx alleviates depression and overcomes hesitancy. Mentally, Sardonyx improves perception and aids the process of osmosis and processing of information.

Meditations, Incantations & Intentions

Las Vegas, Listening Skills, Listening, How well do you listen

Hear Ye, Hear Ye
How well do we listen?

In Meditation we listen for guidance and allow information to come to us. But, with most people using ill-equipped Listening Skills in their daily lives, when Listening is engaged during Meditation, it often comes up severely lacking.

Research states that even though the average person spends 50% of their conversation time on the receiving end, they retain only about 25% of what has been said. By improving this percentage, listening and hearing skills in all areas of life are improved. Communications become clearer and miscommunication and misinterpretation happen with less frequency. This not only means improved communication with others but improved communication with yourself, your guides and with Spirit.

Below is a list of questions designed to get you thinking about how well you listen in your day-to-day life.

Run these by yourself and see where you think you can improve.

Very simple I'm Good if you've got a handle on things or Help! if you feel you could use improvement in that area.

Self-Check Question

How am I doing?

Do you make sure you will be uninterrupted and in a quiet area when discussing important topics?

I'm Good

When entering an important conversation, do you make sure your mind is clear and not preoccupied with your own issues?

I'm Good

Are you thinking about your reply instead of being engaged in what the other person is saying?

I'm Good

Are you letting the other person know in some way perhaps with words, touch, body positioning or body language that what they are saying is important?

I'm Good

Do you consider the person's motivations when coming to the truth of what you hear?

I'm Good

Do you allow your own personal judgments and biases cloud your evaluation of what is being said to you?

I'm Good

Are you allowing your personal feelings for the other person good or bad, cloud your judgment?

I'm Good

Is your mind already made up on the topic being discussed?

I'm Good

Are you open to new ideas and ways of seeing things?

I'm Good

Do you make sure that you can properly hear the person?

I'm Good

Are you watching for visual cues as well as auditory ones?

I'm Good

Do you try to see both sides of any issue?

I'm Good

Are you following up on facts before making decisions based on emotional hype or strong-arming?

I'm Good

If you do not understand what has been said do you ask for the statement to be clarified?

I'm Good

This is a self assessment just to give you an idea of areas you can improve. By improving the challenge areas in every day communication, you can also improve your active listening skills with the intuitive aspects of your life. This can help a great deal listening to that sweet small voice of your guides.

De-mystifying Mysticism
A Father's Wisdom;
St. Elmo's Fire

(An excerpt from the upcoming book De-mystifying Mysticism )

During a time of trial and change a few years back, I made it a habit to travel to my healer friend's home a few times a month for solace and healing in Los Angeles. On one of my trips I noticed a book of hers titled The Four Agreements and started to thumb through it. I quickly scanned over the four main points which were:

  1. Be Impeccable With Your Word.
  2. Don't Take Anything Personally.
  3. Don't Make Assumptions.
  4. Always Do Your Best

I knew I had to read it, so my friend loaned it to me. A few hours later, somewhere on the road home in the middle of the Mojave Desert between Los Angeles and Las Vegas, my dad called. He had been staying in close touch every day or so as I was going through this rough patch just to make sure I was ok and to give me some encouragement. He had called to tell me that I should pick up a copy of The Four Agreements. One of his Mantras he would recite to me as a young girl was Do Your Level Best. He was excited when he saw one of his favorite codes to live by published in this book. I glanced over at the book now lying on the passenger seat as he urged me to go out right now and pick up a copy.

I laughed and told him I already did.

This Sunday is Father's Day and I can't help but reflect on the things my father taught me and how they shaped my life in positive ways. My dad Alexander Garcia Rodriguez turned 91 this year and continues to be a great role model for me in many ways. So I thought about the Four Agreements that my dad taught me growing up still functioning in my life and distilled those down. I ended up with Six instead of Four.

Do Your Level Best

My Dad's version of Always Do Your Best, these simple words stuck with me. There is no room for whining, qualifiers or excuses; just be willing to do the best with what you have in the moment and help will usually come to fill in what you can't handle.

If your reach does not exceed your grasp;
How will you ever know what you can attain?

When he said this it just made sense. I am sure he said it to me during some teenage period of self-doubt or self-pity when I thought some task was too hard or that I just couldn't do it; he never let me be hard on myself for too long. Now, whenever I feel that I am undertaking a task that just seems too big for me I picture myself standing on my tip-toes and reaching just a little bit farther.

You can't go around it;
You have to go through it

My dad told a story about St. Elmo's Fire to illustrate this Mantra. He was flying a mission during World War II and was heading back to base. He was the navigator and his plane's flight path home was over ocean. On the way back to base they ran into a thunderstorm and encountered an electrical weather phenomenon called St. Elmo's Fire.

He calculated a new flight path in every possible direction to avoid the storm but no matter which flight path they used other than the original one, they would end up out of gas over the ocean. They were left no other choice but to fly straight through the storm.

The only problem with going through the storm was not just that the weather would be a little turbulent but because of St. Elmo's Fire, their manmade navigational devices would be rendered absolutely useless. With no other choice, they flew straight through, navigated by the stars when they could see them and made it back home. One of the odd effects of St. Elmo's Fire is that when a plane is flying through it, it can literally look like it is on fire. So, in addition to literally flying half-blind in the storm, it looked as if they were flying through fire!

Such is life; you find out what you are made of when you decide to go straight through the storm; made stronger in your trial by fire. The way around might seem easier at the time, but then again you might run out of gas over a stormy ocean and be in even bigger trouble!

You Can Be Anything You Want To Be

Never once did my dad tell me I couldn't be an Astronaut or a Fireman. He never gave me any reasons why I couldn't be something; he only encouraged my imagination and allowed me to think about possibilities. No matter how improbable my idea was, my dad would say that as long as my choice was governed by good intentions, the power of God and the Angels would help make it happen. I believed and still do that anything is possible.

Stay Close To God

Dad always taught me that no matter what I chose to do with my life, I should first and foremost make sure my life was right with God. That knowledge has always been an anchor through life as my awareness of the Divine has shifted, changed and expanded. It is peace in knowing that as I grow in my personal journey, I never lose my connection but become more attuned to it as I collect pieces of awareness one by one.

Listen to the Spirit
& Practice Discernment

Of all the words of wisdom my dad gave me, these were the ones that have served me the best when it comes to having Spiritual Street Sense and has been a valuable tool for navigating Life in all its aspects both temporal and spiritual. He knew about my sensitivity to spirit energy when I was young and taught me to Test the Spirits; just because it looks like a duck doesn't mean its' really a duck. That applies to figuring out the bottom line in physical life as well; it just doesn't make you too popular with pushy salesmen...turns out.

Math is Simple

Oh, wait...there is just one more. I almost forgot Mantra Number Seven; Math is Simple. My dad was a Master Mathematician who once worked with some of the greatest minds of his time for NASA during the first moon shot in the 1960's formulating incredibly complex mathematical calculations. I really should have appreciated this more when I was completely lost as he tried to help me with my Junior High School Algebra homework. For the moment in regards to this one...I still wait for enlightenment; knowing that it must come...but I keep my calculator handy.
